Sad Man Studio is an animation and creative studio based on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.

We are committed to creating boutique 2D animated stories for film and TV, with a slate of projects currently in development, including TV co-productions with Ludo Studio and Mad Ones Films. The stories we want to tell are authored, colourful, emotionally intelligent and silly, with a unique Australian-based point of view for international audiences.

We’re also passionate about partnering with organisations that align with our values to deliver high-impact multifaceted visual campaigns, with previous work for The Man Cave, Prepster, ReachOut, Queensland University of Technology and Equality Australia. We can deliver bespoke illustrations, VR filters, Instagram stickers, short animations and physical installations to suit your budget. Get in touch!

Spanner Man is a lonely space ship mechanic working under a group of elitist scientists at a remote launch centre, hundreds of miles away from nearest civilisation. Constantly dismissed and underestimated, Spanner Man’s only friend is his beloved bonsai tree, Ki. Fed up with his mistreatment, Spanner Man decides to take his dreams into his own hands and plots to escape the space launch centre to travel to the stars with his beloved botanical companion.
